TOPIC
Motor Starting in Midstream Applications: Conventional Methods, Soft Starters, VFDs, Synchronous Transfer, and Installation Best Practices
TRAINING PRICING
- Individual Member: $148.50
- Non-Member: $165
- Owner/Operators that are Corporate Members: $0
Breakfast will be provided. The cost also includes a ticket for the luncheon immediately following the training.
AGENDA
Motor starting methods training to include conventional motor starting technologies. The class will include:
- In-depth coverage of VFD starting and synchronous transfer options, open versus closed transition, voltage and frequency matching, transfer methods, and breaker coordination.
- • Medium voltage soft starting (MVSS), complete with planning factors and capabilities.
- • Electric motor installation and alignment best practices.
By the end of the class, participants should be able to:
- Explain why motor-starting methods are selected for a given application.
- Compare across-the-line, reduced-voltage, soft-start, and VFD starting.
- Evaluate starting current, torque, acceleration time, and voltage drop.
- Describe VFD operating principles, key settings, bypass arrangements, and common faults.
- Explain synchronous transfer methods and considerations.
- Identify standby-generator considerations and planning factors.
- Select an appropriate starting method using practical application criteria.
- Describe motor installation and alignment best practices.
