ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mitch Smolik is Vice President of Engineering at Howard Energy Partners, where he leads the company’s engineering and project management teams overseeing an annual $800MM capital portfolio. His responsibilities span land, asset integrity, GIS, and operational technology—bringing together the systems that keep midstream assets safe, reliable, and future-focused.
Before his current role, Mitch led operations at the Javelina Refinery Off-Gas Recycling Plant in Corpus Christi, one of the most unique facilities of its kind—transforming refinery off-gas into valuable purity hydrocarbons and olefins while reducing environmental impact.
With two decades in the energy industry, Mitch’s background ranges from subsea drilling and production technology at OneSubsea (now Schlumberger) to advanced research and product development at Southwest Research Institute. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University–Kingsville with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Today, Mitch is passionate about how artificial intelligence, data, and automation are reshaping the midstream sector—and how leaders can harness these tools without losing sight of safety, people, and performance.
