SUMMARY:October Membership Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our October Luncheon\n\n\n\nSPEAKER\n\n\n\nAhmed Khattab\, Ph.D.\, Dean & Professor\, College of Engineering\, University of Louisiana at Lafayette \n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n\nMembers – $75\n\n\n\nLate Registration – $100\n\n\n\nCorporate Member Owner/Operators – $0\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\n\n\n\nDr. Ahmed Khattab is the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He joined the University in 2007 and in July 2020\, he was named the seventh Dean to lead the College of Engineering since its establishment in 1940. \n\n\n\nDr. Khattab earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia\, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Alexandria University in Egypt. Dr. Khattab has a passion for engineering education and leadership. In 2018 he completed the Leadership Lafayette Program\, Class XXXI\, and in 2022 he completed the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education program from Harvard University. \n\n\n\nDr. Khattab’s vision for the College of Engineering focuses on fostering a vibrant\, forward-thinking environment where innovation\, collaboration\, and student success take precedence. He emphasizes the importance of preparing students not just for today’s engineering challenges\, but for the evolving demands of the future. At the heart of this vision is the Engineering Center of Excellence (ECoE)\, which Dr. Khattab envisions as more than just a center—it is a movement.  The newly established ECoE serves as a dynamic hub where education meets innovation\, creating spaces where students can connect\, create\, and collaborate across disciplines\, driving transformative solutions to global issues. A state-of-the-art student-centered engineering building\, including a makerspace\, is currently under construction. \n\n\n\nA key element of his vision and ECoE is closing the skills gap between engineering education and industry needs\, by providing a cutting-edge education that emphasizes leadership\, entrepreneurship\, and innovation skills\, while excelling in research and technology development\, and playing a significant role in workforce development. By strengthening industry partnerships\, expanding internships\, and integrating innovation engineering and real-world applications into the curriculum\, he aims to bridge the gap and equip students with the skills necessary to excel in today’s ever changing engineering landscape. \n\n\n\nUnder his leadership\, the College of Engineering continues its remarkable rise for the future! Enrollment is up 39% for first-time freshmen over the last three years.  Fall 2024 has seen a 25% increase in graduate student enrollment and research funding has exploded from $16M to over $84M in just four years. Major achievements include the creation of ECoE\, and the largest curriculum enhancement in the college’s history. With successful innovative programs such as the only BS in Engineering & Technology management\, and the only bioengineering concentration in the state as well as the only Smart Oilfield concentration in the U.S.\, the College is setting new standards under Dean Khattab’s leadership. \n\n\n\nDr. Khattab has over thirty years’ experience in teaching\, research\, and development with over 20 years of experience in the fields of advanced materials processing\, high-temperature polymer composites and nanocomposite materials. His experience spans three universities\, in two States (Louisiana and Missouri) and two Countries (U.S. and Egypt). His industrial experience includes working as a mechanical engineer for Caterpillar early in his career. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Today!
